Background Information:
Formed in early 2008, the AEL group is intended to create in-person connections between distance education library, information, and media science students and new graduates living in the Atlanta area. The group will meet every 2-3 months, and will provide time for mingling, snacking, and a presentation. Presentation topics will be determined by the group’s members.

The first meeting took place on April 12, 2008, at the Mechanicsville branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library system. Twenty-nine students and recent graduates attended. Since then over 200 unique individuals have registered to attend an AEL meeting; between 30 and 50 people generally attend. All events are totally free.
