Georgia Library Day Proclamation

Georgia Library Day Proclamation

Governor Perdue proclaims March 10, 2010, Georgia Library Day! This is the day the Georgia Library Association, in cooperation with the Georgia Library Media Association and the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology, is holding its Georgia Library Legislative Day in Atlanta, during which librarians and other library advocates visit legislators face to face to urge them to support Georgia libraries.

Although you may be unable to be in Atlanta on March 10, we have made it possible for you to let your representatives know that libraries are the heart of Georgia communities and how libraries and librarians are making a difference every day to lives across Georgia, especially in times of economic distress.

Come to the Georgia Library Association library advocacy center to send e-mails to your representatives in Atlanta in support of Georgia public, college, and school libraries. It's an easy and effective way to show your support!

Not only have we provided information and the means to help you write and send your letter to your legislators on March 10, we welcome you to add your personal messages on why libraries are important to you and how they help you and your family.

Thanks for taking the time to support Georgia libraries!

Sincerely,

Carol Stanley
President, Georgia Library Association

I’ve had a suggestion that we wear the same color for identification. How about RED?! I know we don’t have time to get this message out, but for those who want to, please wear red. Red scarf and red ties will do! I’ll be going shopping this evening if anyone wants to join me. : )
