The Distance Learning IG is for anyone interested in the challenges of providing library services to distance learners.
Thus, our focus is on
the kinds of support which we, as library staff, can supply to those who are taking classes which
are off-campus, online, provided through GSAMs
or any other type of nontraditional instructional delivery system-- and not
on the much broader field of distance education generally.
This is a fairly new and very exciting subspeciality of library work, and
we all have a lot to learn from each other; library staff
at all levels and from all types of libraries are more than welcome to join. The
Interest Group has an email list to facilitate
communication among members, and is
committed to providing an informative program at each and every GA-COMO Conference.
We are small, informal, and very enthusiastic--so try us
out: you won't be disappointed!
