The Annual Meeting of the GLA Academic Library Division (ALD) will be held virtually on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 10am to 11:30am (Eastern Time).
All are welcome as our meeting is open to ALD and non-ALD members.
We are excited to announce that Dr. Shaundra Walker, Interim Library Director at Georgia College and the 2020 DEMCO/ALA Black Caucus Award Winner for Excellence in Librarianship, will be our keynote speaker.
Shaundra Walker earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University. She also holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Clark Atlanta University and a Bachelor of Arts in history from Spelman College. Her research interests include the recruitment and retention of librarians of color, organizational development within Minority Serving Institution (MSI) libraries, and critical librarianship.
The topic of her keynote presentation is “The Recruitment, Retention, and Promotion of Librarians of Color: A Counterstory.””
Shortly after her presentation, our business meeting will take place. At that time, we will provide a recap of the 2019-2020 year, introduce the new executive committee members, and announce our research award winners.
