ACRL Webinar Viewing Parties

ACRL offers each ACRL chapter complimentary access to two ACRL e-Learning webcast group registrations per year. ACRL e-Learning webcasts are 60-90 minutes in length. Webcasts take place in an Adobe Connect online classroom and are designed to encourage interactivity and active learning. The Academic Library Division of the Georgia Library Association polls the ALD members each year to select the most relevant webinars and host simultaneous viewings in six different locations across the state.

Carterette Series Webinars

Highlighting Trends, Innovation, and Best Practices in Georgia Libraries

In June of 2010, members of the Georgia Library Association and the Georgia Public Library Service launched this bi-monthly educational webinar series. The series highlights trends, innovation, and best practices in libraries. The free sessions are open to interested parties from all geographic (and astral) locations. Topics are chosen to be of interest to students and employees from all library types, and each session is approved for one Georgia Continuing Education (CE) contact hour.

(Formerly known as the Wednesday Webinars, the series was renamed to honor founding member Pat Carterette, who passed away in January of 2011.)

Georgia Libraries Conference (formerly Ga COMO)

The annual joint conference of the Georgia Library Association, and the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology . Keynote addresses and presentations in all areas, as well as great networking opportunities, an exhibit hall and a raffle to support GLA scholarships. Georgia Library Day

Georgia Library Day is held each year during the legislative session. The Georgia Library Association, in cooperation with the Georgia Library Media Association and the Georgia Association for Instructional Technology, holds this event for librarians and other library advocates to visit legislators face to face to urge them to support Georgia libraries.

GLA Membership Campaign

GLA Membership Campaign  is held each year during the National Library Week to recruit new GLA members.

GLA Midwinter Meeting

Every member of GLA is invited and encouraged to attend this kickoff to map out the activities of GLA for the year, as well as beginning the work of divisions, committees and interest groups in planning for GLC programs. If you’ve always meant to get involved in your state professional organization, this is your opportunity to make a difference!
