Opening Session (10:30am-11:30am) Librarians as Research Practitioners
Presented by Dr. Nicole Alemanne, Asst. Professor of Library and Information Science at VSU
Research is becoming more important for LIS practitioners as professionals and it is an essential component of LIS as a profession. But how do LIS research methods courses connect to and support the development of research practitioners? In this talk, we’ll look at research into research—how LIS practitioners view and use research on the job and how LIS programs are working to make research methods training relevant and useful as they seek to develop research practitioners.
The meeting will continue from 11:30-2:30 and include lightning talks and breakout discussions.
Our goal is to offer time, space, and a loose structure of activities to foster knowledge-sharing and spark collaborations.
For those attending in person, lunch will be provided thanks to our partners and the support of GLA. Free parking will also be available.
In-person attendance will be limited to 40 registrants, and online attendance is limited to 30 registrants.
