As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Pat Carterette 5k walk/run at GLC, the many colleagues at GPLS and throughout Georgia who knew and loved Pat will once again walk/run in her honor. We continue to be inspired by our memories of her passion, her pure joy in her work, and her kindness to all. We were so fortunate to have Pat on our Georgia Libraries team, and we’re forever grateful for her service.
In conjunction with the virtual Georgia Libraries Conference, the Walk/Run will be held virtually. Complete the 5k anytime October 7th-9th and post a selfie on social media.
Registered participants will receive a Pat C logo prize to mark their participation in the event. Those who post selfies while participating in the event will receive a second prize.
The Pat Carterette Memorial Run/Walk is coordinated by the Georgia Public Library Service to honor a beloved colleague who lost her battle with cancer and to celebrate her spirit and excitement for health and fitness. As director of continuing education for GPLS, Carterette’s work positively influenced hundreds of librarians across Georgia and, through her involvement with numerous American Library Association initiatives, nationwide. She found time to run at every conference she attended and frequently organized group runs through her BiblioRunners group on social media outlets. Pat always encouraged others to be active with her “you can do it” philosophy.
