The Oxford College Library is proud of their library leader program. During the school year, the library employs over 50 student employees in total. At the end of their first year, student employees can apply to become Library Leaders.
The library is open 24 hours during the school week, and Library Leaders are essential in providing late-night service. These students act as student supervisors when staff are not in the building. They oversee circulation and write reports to keep staff informed about library usage. Leaders hold regular meetings to discuss operations with library staff. Additionally, Library Leaders take an active role in the training of incoming students and emergency preparedness. They also create book displays, beta test library surveys, serve on the student collections committee, and develop social media content.
At Oxford College, student success and student flourishing are major priorities. The library strives to make Library Leaders feel appreciated through fun activities, personalized polo shirts, picnics, and more. They also take a major role in our student-centered events, like therapy dogs and game night. Their dedication and hard work are fundamental to the success of the Oxford College Library.
